Open Water Course - Comprehensive

From AUD $1,249.00
  • Duration: 5 Days (approx.)
  • Location: Queenscliff, VIC
  • Product code: P22MGS

Three certifications, one course

This is our standard Open Water certification, plus two specialties bundled in — built for divers who want to walk away best prepared, not just certified.

You'll earn:

  • SSI Open Water Diver — the certification that lets you dive anywhere in the world, for life
  • SSI Perfect Buoyancy Specialty — hover motionless, control your depth without thinking about it, and stop burning air fighting your own body position — the skill that separates a comfortable diver from one who's just surviving the dive
  • SSI Enriched Air Nitrox (40%) Specialty — dive on a safer gas blend with a bigger safety margin, longer bottom times and shorter surface intervals between dives

What's included

  • BCD, regulator, tank, weights and wetsuit hire
  • All SSI training materials and certification fees
  • All pool/confined sessions, shore and boat dives required for certification

The only gear you choose yourself: mask, snorkel, fins, gloves and boots — buy them through the Extras tab during booking.  Buying through us means it's professionally fitted by our dive crew, and any warranty or return issue is a face-to-face conversation, not a call centre.

How the course runs — and why the duration isn't a flat number

Your Open Water certification is completed over a minimum of 3 days. We'll then try to fit the Perfect Buoyancy and Nitrox specialties into that same window — but if that's not possible, we'll bring you back for an extra day (occasionally on a separate weekend or date). Plan for 3 days minimum, with a 4th or 5th day possible depending on scheduling.

This course needs a minimum of 4 students to commence.

Start times can vary.

Who can do this course

  • Minimum age 10 (under-18s need a parent or guardian's consent)
  • Comfortable swimming 200m continuously, any stroke, no time limit

  • Able to float or tread water for 10 minutes, any method
Before your course, you'll complete a short Medical Questionnaire — standard for all new divers.

A dive medical check may be required if you:

  • Struggle to perform moderate exercise — for example, walk 1.6km (one mile) in 14 minutes, or swim 200m without resting — or have been unable to take part in normal physical activity due to fitness or health reasons within the past 12 months, or

  • Have had surgery within the last 12 months, or have ongoing problems related to past surgery, or

  • Are taking prescription medications (except birth control, or anti-malarial drugs other than mefloquine/Lariam)

None of this is unusual — it's a standard part of learning to dive safely. If you fall into one of these categories, we can email you the attached Medical Questionnaire so you can review it before booking and have it signed by a physician before your course date.
