The SSI Extended Range Nitrox program provides a thorough introduction to the concepts, techniques, and procedures required when planning decompression diving with nitrox. Designed as either a stand-alone program or stepping-stone to become an SSI Extended Range diver, this enriched air diving program provides foundational skills that are the basis for all future technical programs. 

Using either an XR Sidemount or Twinset Total Diving System, this program prepares divers to plan and conduct limited decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters / 130 feet. In addition, this advanced nitrox diving course will teach you the techniques and procedures for using breathing gases up to 100% oxygen for decompression.


TRAINING PREREQUISITES

  • Deep Diving certification
  • Enriched Air Nitrox 40 certification
  • min. 24 logged dives
  • Recreational Sidemount Diving certification

DIVE MEDICAL

A dive medical is only required if you fall into one or more of the following categories:

Those with an at risk medical condition; or are over 45 years of age; or have a body mass index (BMI) over 30 AND a waist circumference greater than 102cm for males and 88cm for females.

If you fall into one or more of these categories you will need to obtain a diving medical (AS4005.1) The cost is roughly $100AUD and takes about 45 minutes to complete with a registered diving doctor.
