SSI Professional - Snorkel Instructor Course

Turn your love of the water into a career — no scuba certification required.

The SSI Snorkeling Instructor program gives you the knowledge and training to run entry-level snorkeling programs safely and enjoyably. On completion, you're certified as an SSI Snorkeling Instructor Professional through Scuba Schools International — and you're covered for Professional Status from day one, since this course includes your initial SSI professional fee.

How the course runs

This is a 2-day course: theory sessions, pool training and ocean practical.

This course needs a minimum of 4 students to commence.

Before you book: prerequisites

• Minimum age 18

• Good water fitness

• Current occupational dive medical (AS2299.1), issued by an accredited SPUMS doctor

• Current First Aid, CPR and Oxygen Provider certificates (you can start the course without these, but must obtain them to be certified — we can help you get there)

About the occupational dive medical: if you're working or training professionally in Australia, a standard recreational sign-off isn't enough — workplace health and safety law requires a valid AS/NZS 2299.1 occupational dive medical from an accredited SPUMS doctor.

Please complete this before your course begins — if you start training without valid medical clearance and later can't pass, we can't guarantee a refund or cover financial losses.

Your Professional Status stays active as long as you keep your dive medical, first aid certification and professional status current — professional status is billed annually each January through SSI.
