Course Description

The SSI Snorkeling Instructor program is intended to provide candidates with the knowledge and training necessary to conduct entry-level snorkeling programs in a safe and enjoyable manner. Upon completion you will be certified as an SSI Snorkeling Instructor Professional through Scuba Schools International.


Prerequisites

  • Minimum 18 years old
  • Good water fitness
  • Current occupational dive medical (AS2299.1) issued by an accredited SPUMS doctor.*** 
  • Current (within 24 months) First Aid, CPR and Oxygen Provider certificates**

** You can still participate in the course without these, however you must get them to be certified.
** We can assist you with obtaining First Aid, CPR & Oxygen Provider through our training centre 

*** If you are working or taking an SSI Professional course in Australia, you cannot just use a standard recreational doctor's sign-off. Workplace health and safety laws dictate that you must hold a valid AS/NZS 2299.1 occupational dive medical issued by an accredited SPUMS doctor.  Registered doctors can be found here: https://spums.au/index.php/diving-doctors-list

To protect your investment and ensure your safety, please complete your dive medical before your course begins. If you choose to start your training without a valid medical clearance and later discover you cannot pass, we cannot guarantee a refund or cover any financial losses you may incur.


What the course will cover:

  • Water fitness evaluation; surface swim, underwater swim, water tread & rescue tow
  • Snorkel Instructor theory session and exam
  • In-water teaching techniques and skill demonstration
  • SSI Professional workshop

This course includes the initial professional fee through SSI therefore all students will have the Professional Status upon completion of the course. To remain an active professional within the industry, students are required to maintain current with dive medical, first aid certifications and professional status (billed annually in January each year through SSI)
