Science of Diving Course

The physics and physiology behind every dive you'll ever make.

An in-depth, detailed study of physics, physiology, decompression theory, the aquatic environment and diving equipment. It's required training for most SSI Dive Professional programs, and some Extended Range programs too — so if a pro pathway is even a maybe for you, this is where it starts. You'll earn the SSI Science of Diving Specialty certification on completion.

How the course runs

1 day (approx.), an academic and knowledge training session, followed by an exam. You'll need to score 90% to achieve certification.

This course needs a minimum of 4 students to commence.

Who can do this course

• Minimum age 10

• Must already hold an Open Water Diver certification or higher
