Dive Guide Course

Build the skills to lead your buddies underwater — no professional commitment required.

This program builds the knowledge, skills and experience to safely supervise and guide certified buddies on fun dives — think leading friends and family on a dive, not paid work. 

It's a non-professional, leadership-level certification.

 Dive Guide is also the natural stepping stone if you're weighing up a dive career, since it counts toward Divemaster — SSI's actual entry-level professional rating, which is what you need if you want to guide or lead dives for pay.

What's included

• Tank hire and/or air fills

• A minimum of 2 boat dives

How the course runs

Approximately 2 days. 

This course needs a minimum of 4 students to commence.

Start times can vary 

Who can do this course:

• Minimum age 15

• 40 logged dives, totalling 25 hours or more

• The following SSI certifications (or equivalent from a recognised agency): Diver Stress & Rescue, Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility, and Deep Diving.

A dive medical check may be required if you:

• Struggle to perform moderate exercise — for example, walk 1.6km (one mile) in 14 minutes, or swim 200m without resting — or have been unable to take part in normal physical activity due to fitness or health reasons within the past 12 months, or

• Have had surgery within the last 12 months, or have ongoing problems related to past surgery, or

• Are taking prescription medications (except birth control, or anti-malarial drugs other than mefloquine/Lariam)
