Boat Diving Course

Some of the best dive sites aren't reachable from shore.

The ocean is full of dive sites you simply can't reach on foot. This program gives you the skills and knowledge to safely dive from a boat, so you can actually get to them — proper entries and exits, boat-specific safety procedures, and how to handle the parts of a dive that only come up once you're not walking in from a beach. You'll earn the SSI Boat Diving Specialty certification on completion.

Mask, snorkel, fins, gloves and boots are also on you, same as our other courses. Buy what you need through the Extras tab during booking, or in person on Day 1 — professionally fitted by our Dive Crew, with a face-to-face contact for any warranty or return issues.

How the course runs

1 day (approx.). An academic session plus 2 boat dives.

This course needs a minimum of 4 students to commence.

Who can do this course

• Minimum age 10

• Must already hold an Open Water Diver certification or higher

A dive medical check may be required if you:

• Struggle to perform moderate exercise — for example, walk 1.6km (one mile) in 14 minutes, or swim 200m without resting — or have been unable to take part in normal physical activity due to fitness or health reasons within the past 12 months, or

• Have had surgery within the last 12 months, or have ongoing problems related to past surgery, or

• Are taking prescription medications (except birth control, or anti-malarial drugs other than mefloquine/Lariam)

If you fall into one of these categories, we can email you the Medical Questionnaire so you can review it before booking and have it signed by a physician before your course date.
