Already Open Water certified and want to go further? The Advanced Open Water Diver program takes you through 5 open-water training dives: Deep and Navigation are part of every course. 

Deep and Navigation: included in every Advanced Open Water Diver course, get to a maximum depth of 30m and learn to navigate confidently underwater.

Everything you complete here counts — credit your training toward the full specialty certification whenever you're ready to go deeper on any one of them.

What's included

Mandatory personal gear: you'll need your own SMB, reel, compass and torch for this course — these aren't supplied like the rest of your kit. Mask, snorkel, fins, gloves and boots are also on you, same as our other courses. Buy what you need through the Extras tab during booking, or in person on Day 1.

How the course runs

2 days (approx.). Your exact schedule is worked out directly with your instructor and confirmed visa email. 

This course needs a minimum of 4 students to commence.

Who can do this course

• Minimum age 12 (a parent's or guardian's consent is required for participants under 18 years old)

• Must already hold an Open Water Diver certification or higher — this is a next-step course, not an entry point


• 12 logged dives

A dive medical may be required if you:

• Struggle to perform moderate exercise — for example, walk 1.6km (one mile) in 14 minutes, or swim 200m without resting — or have been unable to take part in normal physical activity due to fitness or health reasons within the past 12 months, or


• Have had surgery within the last 12 months, or have ongoing problems related to past surgery, or


• Are taking prescription medications (except birth control, or anti-malarial drugs other than mefloquine/Lariam)

If you fall into one of these categories, you'll need a diving medical (AS4005.1) — around $100 and 45 minutes with a registered diving doctor. Not sure where you stand? Check our SSI Medical Waiver before you book, or just ask us.
